Mahoning coroner ID's Youngstown's latest homicide victim

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County coroner today identified Marquise Shelton, 23, as the man who was shot and killed about 12:20 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 400 block of Idora Avenue on the South Side.

Dr. Joseph Ohr, deputy coroner and forensic pathologist who performed an autopsy on Shelton, determined that Shelton died of a gunshot wound to the chest that pierced a lung.

Shelton’s death is the fourth homicide in Youngstown this year. In 2015, Youngstown had 23 homicides.
