2 listeriosis cases linked to Pennsylvania farm’s raw milk

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Health authorities say two 2014 cases of listeriosis – one of them fatal – in other states have been linked to a central Pennsylvania dairy that supplies raw milk to private buyers around the country.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said one person in California and another in Florida became infected from raw milk in 2014, and the Florida victim died. Officials said that case was likely due to milk from Miller’s Organic Dairy located in Bird-in-Hand in Lancaster County.

Miller’s Organic Farm isn’t licensed by or inspected by the state agriculture department. It doesn’t do retail sales but does business via mail order to a membership club.

Owner Amos Miller told reporters the company is still selling raw milk and hasn’t gotten any complaints from members.
