Ambulance, SUV crash in Vienna

VIENNA

A Vienna Township man was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, which caused a crash between his sport utility vehicle and an ambulance about 12:20 p.m. Saturday on Sodom-Hutchings Road south of state Route 82.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the SUV driven by Albert Bansky, 63, turned into the path of a Life Fleet ambulance that was passing stopped traffic along Sodom-Hutchings, according to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

The OSHP said the ambulance, which flipped on its side, had its emergency lights and sirens activated at the time. Bansky and his passenger, Vicky Bansky, 53, of Vienna, were transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with injuries troopers say are not life-threatening.

The ambulance driver and a passenger were not injured. The ambulance was not transporting a patient at the time of the crash.
