Samantha Cox’s transitional kindergarten class celebrated its 100th day of preschool on Feb. 18 at Poland North Preschool.

The 100th day of school was a special day for Cox’s class. Many of the students, and Cox herself, dressed up like they were 100-years-old.

There were several activities for the students to do to celebrate their 100th day. The students created an art activity in which they made a portrait of themselves as a 100-year-old.

For the portraits, the students used crinkled paper for the faces, wallpaper scraps for the clothes and cotton balls for the hair.

They added their own special touches by drawing their faces, arms, earrings and other characteristics on themselves with markers. The students also sang a song that involved counting to 100.

To end the day, the students completed a journal activity called “I wish I had 100...” The journals showed what the students wished they had 100 of. There was a variety of things like fish, dinosaurs, cents, boats and 100 days.

Cox’s students also had their President’s Day celebration on Feb. 18. They made President masks made out of paper plates, construction paper and cotton balls. The masks made the students look like they were wearing top hats and had a beard.
