Shatner to headline Smithsonian festival

WASHINGTON

William Shatner will headline Smithsonian magazine’s The Future Is Here Festival.

The magazine announced Thursday that the fourth annual festival celebrating advanced thinking in science, technology, art and engineering will take place April 22-24 at the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington.

The festival opens with an event with Shatner, “X-Files” creator Chris Carter and cast members from the Syfy series “12 Monkeys.”

On Saturday and Sunday, the festival will feature a series of speakers, including explorers Celine and Alexandra Cousteau and Google Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist Vint Cerf, who’s known as one of the fathers of the Internet. There will be performances by Tesla coil band Arc Attack and cyber illusionist Marco Tempest.

Free tickets for the Saturday and Sunday speaker events are available online.
