ALLIANCES
• Ohio Cultural Alliance will meet at Temple El Emeth, 3970 Logan Way, Liberty, at 6 p.m. April 4 when Rabbi Joseph Schonberger and The Rev. George Blasko will address the topic, “Faith in the Mahoning Valley: Judiasm and Early Christianity.” A Seder meal will be provided. Take personal hygiene items and paper products to be donated to Hope House for the monthly community project. Memberships continue to cost $25 per person, and meetings cost $15 for paid members and $20 for nonmembers. CLUBS
• Friends of the Mahoning River will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Oak Hill Collaboration, 507 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown. Parking is in the rear of the building. Guest speaker will be Lauren Johnson, U.S. 422 Corridor Redevelopment Plan project manager, who will discuss the project as well as other successes and future endeavors. • Youngstown Chapter of Torch Clubs International will meet for a dinner at 7 p.m. Monday in Kilcawley Center, Bresnahan Rooms 1 and 2, at Youngstown State University. Donald Butler will discuss “Edwin Armstrong, the Forgotten Inventor of Wireless Communication.” The public is invited. A social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the lecture will be at 7. • Mahoning Valley Heritage Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Former Ohio Senator Harry Meshel will speak. He will discuss his life story including his service in WWII, education at the then-Youngstown College, life in politics and work with many local community boards. • Canfield Republican Women’s Club dinner meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. April 6 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Col. James Dignan, commander of the Youngstown Air Reserve Station, will discuss the role of YARS in the local community, their mutual-aid program, deployments and more. The club’s Youngstown State University ROTC scholarship recipient, Cadet Brandi Burrows, will attend. Menu comprises beef tips over noodles, spinach salad and green beans, or chicken salad with fruit pie for dessert. Cost is $13 per person. Guests are welcome.
