Liberty man faces charges after arrest in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN — Police found a .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday while arresting a man on a warrant.

Reports said officers pulled over a car driven by Abham Aburahma, 21, of Trumbull Avenue in Liberty, at Belmont Avenue and Redondo Road on the North Side for an improper turn. Reports said a records check showed Aburahma had a failure-to-appear warrant from municipal court for a traffic charge.

When Aburahma was taken into custody, he told police he had a gun in the center console. Police found a Glock Model 27 pistol. Because the gun was easily accessible to Aburahma, he was also charged with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and booked into the Mahoning County jail. He is expected to be arraigned in municipal court today.
