Session on combating gambling addiction is Thursday at Austintown library

AUSTINTOWN — The Austintown library, 600 S. Raccoon Road, will offer a “Now You Know” discussion entitled “Can You Control Your Gambling? Don’t Bet On It!” with national certified gambling counselor Lynn Burkey at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The “Now You Know” series is co-sponsored by Meridian Health Care and the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, and focuses on family, health and lifestyle topics.

The 45-minute talks feature experts in their fields who can discuss prominent issues facing families and individuals.

During his discussion, Burkey will highlight the warning signs of a gambling addiction. He will also provide guidance on protecting your finances and point to resources in the community that offer additional help. A question-and-answer session will follow.
