YSU committee OKs police contract

YOUNGSTOWN -- A Youngstown State University Trustees committee approved an agreement for a new contract with university police officers.

The University Affairs Committee approved a fact-finder's report. The union already approved the pact which freezes the base pay and step pay increases until 2018.

Union members also will get a one-time $1,000 signing bonus. Changes to contract language regarding sick time and vacation mirror what's in other unions' bargaining agreements.

The full trustees committee meets on this Wednesday.
