SUPER TUESDAY | Sittenfeld concedes after Strickland steamrolling

CINCINNATI — Councilman P.G. Sittenfeld not only got steamrolled in the Democratic primary by ex-Gov. Ted Strickland, but he's clinging to an 8.3-percentage-point lead for second place.

Kelli Prather, also of Cincinnati and a virtual unknown, has 12.2 percent of he vote to Sittenfeld's 20.5 percent.

Ex-Gov. Ted Strickland has 67.3 percent of the vote with 56 percent of precincts statewide reporting.

In his concession speech, Sittenfeld said, "Enough votes have now been counted to know that while we worked hard and fought well, we came up a little short."

Sittenfeld said he would do everything he could to help Strickland beat incumbent U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, a Republican, in the general election.

"I think it's fair to say that no candidate in America ran a more substantive campaign or addressed more important issues than we did," Sittenfeld said. "And while it wasn't enough to win the election, I think Gov. Strickland and his team know that they had a race on their hands."
