OSHP investigating 3-vehicle crash that killed 2


SMITH — A female driver and her male passenger were killed in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Courtney Road and state Route 165 in Smith Township this morning.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the victims’ car, traveling east on Courtney, failed to heed a stop sign and was hit by a sport utility vehicle going south on Route 165 at 10:51 a.m.

The female driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by a Mahoning County coroner’s representative. Her passenger, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Canton, where he later died. The names of the victims were withheld late today pending notification of kin.
