YOUNGSTOWN

Police found suspected LSD, heroin and crack cocaine while making four felony drug arrests over the weekend.

About 6 p.m. Saturday, police arrested Lataraka Jackson, 21, of Republic Avenue, on a warrant and charges of possession of heroin and possession of crack cocaine after officers were called to break up a large fight in the 500 block of Cambridge Avenue on the South Side.

Reports said Jackson was found in a suspicious vehicle in a driveway, and when she was questioned, police found she had a warrant.

When she was taken to the Mahoning County jail, reports said she was told if she had any drugs to tell officers so she would not face further charges. Jackson told police she had no drugs on her, but at the jail-corrections officers found a bag of suspected crack cocaine on her and a white powdery substance that is suspected heroin when she was searched during the changing process, reports said.

Jackson told Magistrate Anthony Sertick during her arraignment in municipal court Monday she works at a day-care center. Sertick said that was troubling.

“I’m concerned you are working in a profession where you are around small children,” Sertick said. “If I had a child that was in a preschool, I don’t know if I’d want them around someone who had these items in their possession. You ought to think about that.”

Sertick set her bond at $22,500.

Aaron Hobby, 33, of West Delason Avenue, was jailed on charges of possession of heroin, possession of crack cocaine and tampering with evidence after he was arrested about 3:40 p.m. Saturday in front of a home in the 300 block of West Evergreen Avenue on the South Side.

Reports said vice squad officers Jimmy Hughes Jr. and Mike Quinn pulled over a car Hobby was driving for running a stop sign, and before it stopped, Hobby and a passenger threw plastic bags out the windows.

The officers retrieved the bags and found a dose of suspected heroin and a dose of suspected crack cocaine, reports said. Reports did not say if the passenger was charged. Hobby’s bond was set at $25,000.

About 8:25 p.m. Saturday, vice officers Frank Bigowsky and James Welch pulled over a car driven by Aric Longcoy, 24, of Mayfield Avenue, at Market Street and Myrtle Avenue on the South Side for an improper turn. Reports said when officers came up to the car, Longcoy had his hands in his pockets and he was told to take them out. When police searched him, they found a bag with 54 pills inside, and tests showed the pills were LSD, reports said.

Longcoy was taken to the jail on charges of possession of drugs and driving under suspension. His bond was set at $15,000.

Arrested about 4:35 p.m. Friday on a robbery warrant at Market Street and East Midlothian Boulevard, again on the South side, was Hiram Urrutia-Ramos, 27. Reports said he had a dose of suspected heroin on him as well.

The warrant is for a robbery at the Market Street Taco Bell on March 9. Sertick set his bond at $42,500.

The two heroin arrests over the weekend give police 46 for the year. At this time in 2015, the department had 17 arrests for heroin.
