The Mill Creek MetroParks Board of Park Commissioners is set to meet at 6 tonight at the MetroParks Farm at 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Road.
The monthly board meeting is expected to be packed with community members upset over recent staff cuts that park leadership implemented to save $13.2 million over the next 15 years for capital improvements.
Park Executive Director Aaron Young will go into details on the staff restructuring plan and address community concerns in a presentation.
That presentation will detail the timeline of events and process leading up to implementation of the internal reorganization, review information about the renewal levy with additional millage that voters approved last fall, and go over some of the park system’s financial and organizational challenges as identified by Young, among other things. His report also will offer details on planned capital improvements.
The public comment portion of the meeting will follow the executive director’s report and any comments that commissioners wish to make. Community members who wish to address the board must sign in, and keep their comments to no longer than three minutes.
