City police probe 2 cases of assault from Sunday

YOUNGSTOWN — Police reported two people injured in assaults Sunday.

About 9 p.m., reports said a woman had her foot run over at a home on East Lucius Avenue by a family member after an argument over a missing pack of cigarettes.

She said she would take herself to a hospital for treatment.

Earlier, at about 5 p.m., a woman was arrested at a home in the 300 block of Crandall Avenue. Her boyfriend told police he was treated at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for a stab wound that came after an argument with his girlfriend over a cell phone.

Reports said when police arrested the girlfriend they found blood and blood splatter in the kitchen and a knife that could have been used in the attack.
