UPDATE | Bomb threat forces closures of MCCTC

CANFIELD — Classes were canceled Mahoning County Career and Technical Center today because of a bomb threat written on a bathroom wall.

Police conducted a sweep of the building, which was evacuated just before noon, and it was expected it to take several hours. Administrators have contacted buses and are dismissing students for the day.

“We have safely evacuated everyone from the building, and students will be bused home,” said John Zehentbauer, assistant superintendent at MCCTC. “Also, parents are now permitted to pick up their student, but only their student, and will have to sign them out. We are working with police to further investigate the matter.”
