Grazing council sets winter meeting for March 24

CARROLLTON
The Eastern Ohio Grazing Council is planning a winter grazing meeting at 6:30 p.m. March 24 at the Carrollton Schools Power Center, 209 Scio Road SW.
Columbiana County is a council member.
A dinner of pizza, chips, and cookies will be available for $5 per person. If purchasing a meal, bring exact change or a check. The workshop is free to attend.
Topics to be covered will include basic pasture condition scoring, Parts 1 and 2, brief review by Joe Mayle, Carroll Soil and Water Conservation District; basic pasture condition scoring Part 3 by Harry Kenney, U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service; nitrogen management in pastures by Fred Kungl; and Carrollton Farmers Exchange and spring turn out by Clint Finney, USDA-NRCS.
Anyone interested in the conservation of soil and water through growing and grazing forages is encouraged to attend the monthly meetings. The grazing council presents new and old ideas for review, discussion and possible implementation.
