Hotel evacuated Friday for gas leak
AUSTINTOWN
Austintown Fire Department evacuated people from Sleep Inn, 5555 Interstate Blvd., due to a gas leak late Friday night.
Police department officials said 10 evacuees were transported to receive medical attention due to the high levels of exposure.
Authorities were testing for high levels of carbon monoxide.
Lane EMS officials said they had no comment on the status of the people transported at this time.
Awards dinner set

The Boardman Civic Association on Monday will host its annual Community Service Awards Dinner at the Lariccia Family Community Center in Boardman Park.
Honorees this year include John York and Denise Debartolo York; Dearing Compressor and Pump Co.; Huntington Plaza, H DiRienzo Properties; the Boardman branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County; Spartan Stadium; and Doug Sweeney.

The Business and Buildings award winners are excellent people who understand the value of living, working and locating a business in Boardman, said BCA President Frank Lazzeri.

Cops seize firearm
YOUNGSTOWN
A man pulled over for an improper turn about 1:05 a.m. Friday was arrested after police found a handgun in his car.
Reports said officers pulled over a car driven by Jeremee Davis, 27, of Kenmore Avenue, in the 3000 block of South Avenue. After a records check found that Davis has a suspended license, he was asked out of the car so it could be searched before it was towed.
Officers found an unloaded .40-caliber Glock semiautomatic handgun between the driver’s seat and center console and a clip of ammunition in the back seat. Davis was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and driving under suspension. The gun taken by police is the 33rd firearm seized this year and fifth this month, according to Vindicator files.
