Howland woman arraigned on child endangering
Staff report
WARREN
Loretta Price pleaded not guilty Friday in Warren Municipal Court to one count of child endangering and was released on a personal-recognizance bond, meaning she didn’t have to pay anything.
Price, 42, of 9212 Howland Springs Road in Howland Township, was charged Tuesday after a passer-by in her car noticed Price’s son, 4, unattended near the road at 9210 Howland Springs Road in a soiled diaper. Police later found deplorable conditions in her home.
The passer-by stopped her car and spoke with the boy but could not determine where he lived and called police. Another passer-by provided a clean diaper and clothing to put on the boy while they waited for police.
The officer described the boy as having dirt all over his body. He located the boy’s house 11 minutes after police were called. He found the front door wide open and found Price and the boy’s uncle asleep.
A girl, 5, also was in the house, and two other children who live there were at school, Howland police said.
The officer and a Children Services case worker went through the house and documented the filthy conditions. The four children were taken into Children Services custody.
