Six years for rape
WARREN
Regina L. Turner, 41, of Irishtown South Road in Farmdale will spend six years in prison for raping a boy, 14, at a September party in Kinsman. Turner told Judge Ronald Rice at her sentencing hearing Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court she did not remember the incident. Kinsman police said Turner sexually assaulted the boy inside his house while an outdoor party was taking place. She was left alone on a couch in the house because of intoxication, police said. Turner was ordered to pay restitution of $3,319 to cover the cost of counseling sessions the boy is receiving. She pleaded guilty to rape and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in January. She could have gotten more than 10 years in prison.
Bodily fluids

A police officer had to be treated at the hospital emergency room after bodily fluids got on him from a man who became combative after the officer administered naloxone, the opiate reversal drug.
Charles J. Elrod Sr., 28, of Old State Road in Middlefield, staggered toward the officer’s cruiser Tuesday morning in the 1900 block of Hazelwood Avenue Southeast and was placed in the back of the cruiser. He was taken to jail on a warrant, but he appeared to fall unconscious on the way, and naloxone was administered, Warren police said. Afterward, he kicked and screamed wildly, so Patrolman Frank Tempesta tried to hold him down, but blood and vomit got on the officer’s shirt and face. Two other officers arrived to assist, but Elrod still did not calm down, even after ambulance workers and hospital workers administered several shots to help him. No additional charges were filed against Elrod.

Lowellville Village Council will have a special meeting at 6 p.m. today at city hall, 140 E. Liberty St., to pass a 2016 budget.
Taco Bell hit again
YOUNGSTOWN
For the second time in a week, a South Side fast-food restaurant was robbed. Employees said a man came inside Taco Bell at 3726 Market St. at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday acting as if he had a gun and demanding money. Reports said the man reached over the counter and cleaned out a cash register. An employee emptied two other registers under orders from the robber and gave him the money. The robber then ran out the door. Police searched the area but could not find him. A man also robbed the restaurant at about 3:30 p.m. March 3. Reports said a man came in and acted as if he had a gun and got cash before running away.
Drug arrest
AUSTINTOWN
Township police arrested a man on drug charges after they responded to a domestic dispute. Officer David Kriebel said when he was dispatched to Elmwood Avenue and Third Street Wednesday night, the man admitted having drugs on him. Kriebel said the man also admitted stealing them from someone after officers questioned why the drugs were prescribed to someone else. Dustin Kaglic, 31, of Oakwood Avenue, Youngstown, is charged with possession of heroin, possession of hydrocodone and possession of Clonazepam, a sedative. Kaglic has a court date at 1 p.m. Monday in Mahoning County Area Court.
3 Days on the Hill
WASHINGTON
Gabriel Young, 18, of Austintown, president of the Overcoming Hurdles in Ohio Youth Advisory Board, a statewide group of adolescents and young adults who’ve experienced foster care, will attend “Three Days on the Hill” next week. The annual trip to the nation’s capital is designed to give foster youth leadership development opportunities, teach them about national policy and the legislative process, and have them educate lawmakers about the foster-care system and advocate for improvements to it, according to a Mahoning County Children Services Board news release. Young, who has been through more than 20 foster homes, is also president of the Mahoning County Youth Advisory Board.
Stolen credit cards

Four men from New York and eastern Pennsylvania are being held in the Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond each after being arraigned Wednesday in Niles Municipal Court on felony charges of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, theft and telecommunications fraud. They are Avery A. Goodluck, 25, of Brooklyn; Brian L. Edmundson. 22, of Brooklyn; Hassan A. Khawajah, 24, of New York City; and Jose A. Cruz, 27, of Bethlehem, Pa. Niles police said they were called to Best Buy on Youngstown Road at 11:44 a.m. for people trying to use stolen credit cards to purchase merchandise. Officers spotted a suspect vehicle on Youngstown Road from which men were throwing credit cards out the window onto the shoulder of the road.
Police arrested them a short distance away and recovered 22 cards in the name of Cruz and 22 in the name of Edmundson.
No plea to the charges was required in court. All four return to court Monday.
Armed robbery at BP
WARREN
The BP gas station, on East Market Street was robbed by a man about 6-foot-3 and weighing about 220 pounds wearing a ski mask and dark hooded sweatshirt and holding a gun at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect also had a gray stocking cap and camouflage shorts under his white stone washed jeans, visible because his jeans were sagging, police said and had very dry, ashey-white hands. He may have been driving a Ford Crown Victoria that appeared to have been used as a police car because of the marks the stickers left in the paint. The clerk said she had gone outside to empty the trash when the suspect approached her and ordered her back inside and forced her to take money out of the safe.
Cooking grease attack

Justyn R. Young, 32, of Fairgreen Avenue in Youngstown, is being held in the Trumbull County Jail without eligibility to make bond after his arraignment Thursday in Warren Municipal Court on an aggravated burglary charge. A not-guilty plea was entered for him. He’s accused of entering his former girlfriend’s house on Hazelwood Avenue Southeast on Saturday afternoon, slapping her in the face and throwing cooking grease on her and around the house and furniture. She said he also has been threatening to kill her, her family and himself for the past month. Young was arrested Wednesday.
Attempted burglary
CORTLAND
Aaron J. Repko, 27, of 5854 Youngstown-Kingsville Road, was arraigned Thursday in Central District Court on charges of attempted burglary, possession of criminal tools and resisting arrest. Not-guilty pleas were entered for him, and bond of $10,000 was set.
Family members said Repko tried to break into their house, which is just down the street from his house, at 6:32 a.m. Wednesday by using a ladder from the barn.
When a deputy with the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office arrived, Repko told him he had just injured his ribs by falling off the ladder. His grandparents said he knocked on their door first, but they refused to let him in, so he tried to get in with the ladder. His brother kept him from getting in, the grandparents said.
Repko was taken by ambulance to the hospital, then went to jail later Wednesday morning.
Marijuana arrest
AUSTINTOWN
A woman driving with a suspended license was caught with suspected marijuana in her possession during a traffic stop and has a court hearing later this month. Officer Daniel Burich said he was performing random vehicle-registration checks Sunday night when the suspect’s registration showed her having a suspended license. Burich made the traffic stop and smelled marijuana. and found it in the vehicle. Burich issued Kayla Pupio, 21, of Vestal Road, a summons for possession of marijuana. She’s due in Mahoning County Area Court here at 6 p.m. March 21.
