DIVISION II

Marion Pleasant 50, Gilmour Academy 47

Kamryn Kimmel scored 10 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter when Marion Pleasant rallied from eight points down to beat Gates Mill Gilmour Academy 50-47 in a girls Division III state semifinal on Thursday at Value City Arena.

The Spartans (27-2) will play the Ironton-Columbus Africentric winner on Saturday at 10:45 a.m.

Gilmour (23-6) led 42-34 with six minutes to play but Kimmel keyed the comeback with two three-pointers from beyond the men’s college line.

Her basket with 1:09 left put the Spartans ahead 48-44 and, after a three-pointer by Gilmour’s Emily Kelley, she made a pair of free throws to make it 50-47. Gilmour missed a last-second shot to tie.

Summer Blevins had 18 points for Pleasant. Naz Hillmon led Gilmour Academy with 16.

Ottawa-Glandorf 51, Hathaway Brown 40

Kadie Hempfling had 20 points and Ottawa-Glandorf blanked Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown in the fourth quarter for a 51-40 win in a girls Division II state semifinal on Thursday at Value City Arena.

The Titans (26-2) play defending champion Kettering Archbishop Alter at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Ottawa-Glandorf was the 2015 Division III runner-up before moving up a classification.

Hathaway Brown (17-11) went ahead 40-35 with 1:13 left in the third quarter but the Blazers missed their final 10 field goals and Ottawa-Glandorf reeled off 16 points in a row.

Hempfling’s basket with 5:50 left in the fourth put the Titans ahead to stay at 41-40.

Kylie White scored 11 points for the Titans. Jackie Carman scored 14 and Dani Lawson 13 for Hathaway Brown.

DIVISION III

Kettering Alter 60, Eastmoor Academy 34

Braxtin Miller had 19 points and nine rebounds to help defending champion Archbishop Alter to a 60-34 victory against Eastmoor Academy in a girls Division II state semifinal on Thursday at Value City Arena.

The Knights (27-2) will have a shot at their third title (2008 was the other) on Saturday against the winner of a game between Hathaway Brown and Ottawa-Glandorf.

Olivia Gillis added 16 points and Libby Bazelak had 12 points and 12 rebounds for Alter. Jala Belcher had 10 points for Eastmoor Academy (22-5). The Warriors Amani Burke, an Associated Press Division II co-player of the year, had five points, nine below her average.

Alter led 24-17 at the half before outscoring the Warriors 22-4 in the third quarter.

Col. Africentric 63, Ironton 34

Leah Morrow scored 22 points and Columbus Africentric overcame a slow start to defeat Ironton 63-34 in a girls Division III state semifinal Thursday at Value City Arena.

The Nubians outscored Ironton 56-22 over the final three quarters. The Tigers (27-1) were the only unbeaten team in the tournament. Africentric (23-5) goes for its fifth state title, and first since 2014, against Marion Pleasant on Saturday at 10:45 a.m.

Morrow had 12 points in the second quarter when Africentric outscored the Tigers 20-8 to turn a seven-point deficit into 27-20 at halftime. Ironton in the third quarter made 1 of 11 field goals and committed four turnovers to fall behind 37-24.

Zharia Lenoir had 14 points and Jordan Horston 12 for the Nubians. Alexis Wise scored 11 points for Ironton.
