MIAMI DOLPHINS
MIAMI
Now that C.J. Anderson’s a Super Bowl-winning running back, the Miami Dolphins want to give him the ball. The restricted free agent signed an $18 million, four-year offer sheet Thursday with Miami.
Anderson rushed for 720 yards last season for the NFL champion Denver Broncos, who have five days to match the offer. They’re considered unlikely to do so.
New Dolphins coach Adam Gase needs a replacement for running back Lamar Miller, who signed a free agent deal with Houston. Gase was offensive coordinator for the Broncos and Anderson in 2013-14.
Anderson, undrafted out of Cal in 2013, rushed for 90 yards and one touchdown in the Broncos’ 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl. He chose Miami to make his first free agent visit.
“Oh man what a time.... To be alive,” Anderson tweeted after signing the offer sheet.
The Dolphins also signed linebacker James-Michael Johnson and center-guard Jacques McClendon. Earlier this week they added defensive end Mario Williams, cornerback Byron Maxwell, linebacker Kiko Alonso, safety Isa Abdul-Quddus and tackle Sam Young.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
SEATTLE
The Seattle Seahawks continue to focus on retaining their own free agents by agreeing to terms with wide receiver Jermaine Kearse.
Kearse and the Seahawks reached agreement on a three-year deal on Thursday night, becoming the third player Seattle has brought back this week. Seattle previously agreed to deals with defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin and cornerback Jeremy Lane.
Kearse has been a complementary asset to Seattle’s wide receiver unit along with Doug Baldwin and the emergence last season of rookie Tyler Lockett. Kearse has also made some of the more memorable catches in franchise history, including the crucial touchdowns in both the 2013 and 2014 NFC championship games won by Seattle.
Last season, Kearse had 49 receptions for 685 yards and five touchdowns in the regular season. He had another 14 catches and two touchdowns in the postseason.
DETROIT LIONS
ALLEN PARk, mich.
The Detroit Lions have signed free agent cornerback Johnson Bademosi.
The team announced the deal Thursday.
Bademosi has been a special teams standout for Cleveland. He played for the Browns the past four seasons. Bademosi was undrafted out of Stanford in 2012. Last season, he was an NFL co-leader in special teams tackles with 17, 12 solo. He ranks second in the league with 61 special teams tackles since 2012.
San francisco 49ers
SANTA CLARA, CALIF.
Quarterback Thad Lewis is being reunited with his former Eagles coach Chip Kelly, signing a one-year contract to join the San Francisco 49ers and play for Kelly again.
The team announced the deal Thursday, its first formal transaction of the NFL’s new calendar year. San Francisco was expected to try to trade Colin Kaepernick, with several teams believed to be in the mix to acquire him — including the Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos following Peyton Manning’s retirement and Brock Osweiler’s departure for Houston.
Blaine Gabbert took over the 49ers’ starting quarterback job in November and expects to compete to be the No. 1 again.
