Canfield High School senior soccer player Ben Feuer formally announced his intention to continue his athletic career at Baldwin Wallace University at a letter of intent signing ceremony at the high school on Feb. 29. Feuer is the son of Joel and Tammie Feuer.

Canfield High School Athletic Director Greg Cooper welcomed Feuer’s family, friends, classmates, teammates, faculty, staff and boys and girls Head Soccer Coach Phil Simone to the ceremony.

“Thank you for taking time out of your day to share this special day with Ben and his family. I have had the pleasure to get to know Ben through him working in the athletic office and have seen him be quiet and reserved, yet a hard charging athlete on the field. On behalf of the athletic office, congratulations to him and his family. We wish you fair winds and following seas,” Cooper said.

Cooper then gave the floor to Coach Simone.

“Thank you for coming out today to support Ben and his family. Congratulations to Ben. We wish him the best of luck in the future. He has been tremendous on the field and in the classroom. He is a class act and will be hard to replace,” Simone said.

Cooper then gave Feuer a chance to address his supporters.

“Thank you for being here today. It really means a lot to me. To Coach Simone, thank you for having faith in me the past four years and helping me progress. To Mr. Cooper and Mrs. Vince, thank you for letting me work in the athletic office and to all the coaches I have had, thank you for helping me progress throughout my life,” Feuer said.

A four-year starter and varsity-letter winner for Coach Simone’s Canfield Cardinals, Feuer earned All-American Conference Honorable Mention notice during his sophomore campaign, AAC First Team honors and District Second Team recognition his junior year and AAC First Team plus District First Team All-Star selections his senior year.

In the classroom, Feuer has garnered a 3.99 GPA while taking advanced placement classes. He is also the treasurer of the school’s National Honor Society chapter, a member of the Leo’s Club and volunteers at the Jewish Community Center’s Hebrew School on Sundays.
