Quiet day at East starts with conflict resolution session, test prep

YOUNGSTOWN

All is quiet at East High School this morning, two days after student fights caused officials to dismiss school and cancel classes.

Interim Superintendent Stephen Stohla said only seniors returned to school today, and they began the day with conflict resolution instruction that was led by community members, including ministers and Guy Burney of the Community Initiative to Reduce Violence.

After those sessions end, the students will receive what Stohla called “a blitz,” turoring to prepare them for Monday’s state test.

Juniors return tomorrow and will follow the same schedule. Underclassmen return on Monday.
