Ohio teen gets prison time in fatal drunken-driving crash
WEST CHESTER, Ohio (AP) — An 18-year-old man is heading to prison for a drunken-driving crash that killed his friend in southwest Ohio last year.
A Butler County judge on Wednesday sentenced Tristan Lacey to six years behind bars and a lifetime driving suspension for the Dec. 26 crash that killed 18-year-old Mark Valentine in West Chester. Lacey pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide last month.
Authorities say Lacey was driving Valentine when he lost control and hit a tree early in the morning. Investigators say speeds reached 110 mph before Lacey’s car crashed.
Police say Lacey’s blood-alcohol level was 0.106 percent after the crash, well above the legal intoxication limit of 0.8.
Lacey says Valentine was like a brother to him and apologized to his family at his sentencing.
