The Fighting Illini made 32 of 58 field-goal attempts (55 percent), including 14 of 26 from 3-point range (54 percent).

ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE

Pittsburgh 72, Syracuse 71

WASHINGTON

Cameron Johnson scored a career-high 24 points off the bench as Pittsburgh (21-10) strengthened its NCAA resume by fending off a late run to beat Syracuse in the second round. Johnson and Ryan Luther helped Pitt’s bench outscore Syracuse’s 39-10 to finish a season sweep and deal a significant blow to the Orange’s NCAA Tournament hopes.

No. 19 Duke 92, N.C. State 89

WASHINGTON

A bloodied Marshall Plumlee’s tiebreaking 3-point play with 74 seconds left helped Duke overcome a second-half deficit against North Carolina State for the third time in three meetings, and the reigning NCAA champion edged the Wolfpack. It was a free-flowing, fast-paced, entertaining game with plenty of offense — and plenty of painful-looking collisions.

Georgia Tech 88, Clemson 85

WASHINGTON

Marcus Georges-Hunt and Georgia Tech erased an 18-point second-half deficit to beat Clemson in overtime to keep its faint NCAA hopes alive for at least another day. Georges-Hunt went 15 for 16 from the free throw line and scored 28 points as the Yellow Jackets took advantage of a Tigers team that went cold and couldn’t get a grip back on the game. Georgia Tech (19-13) will face No. 4 Virginia in the quarterfinals Thursday.

BIG EAST CONFERENCE

Georgetown 70, DePaul 53

NEW YORK

D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera scored 15 of his 20 points in the second half and Georgetown pulled away from DePaul. Smith-Rivera, a second-team All-Big East selection and the fifth-leading scorer in the conference with a 16.3 average, took over in the second half, scoring 11 points in the Hoyas’ 16-2 run that gave them their first 18-point lead of the game, 55-37 with 8:56 to play. The eighth-seeded Hoyas (15-17), who snapped a six-game losing streak, will face top-seeded and third-ranked Villanova in today’s quarterfinals.

PAC-12

Washington 91, Stanford 68

LAS VEGAS

Dejounte Murray scored 25 points, Marquese Chriss had 18 and 10 rebounds, and Washington routed Stanford. Washington (18-13) entered the Pac-12 tournament hoping boost its slim NCAA Tournament chances. The eighth-seeded Huskies got off to a strong start against Stanford, building a 17-point lead in the game’s first six minutes.

Colorado 80, Washington State 56

LAS VEGAS

George King scored 17 of his 21 points in the first half, helping Colorado run away from Washington State. Colorado (22-10) took advantage of Washington State’s persistent double teams on Josh Scott, working the ball around for open shots while building a 19-point halftime lead. King got many of those, shooting 7 of 12 from the field while Scott finished with six points, five rebounds and five assists.

SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE

Tennessee 97, Auburn 59

NASHVILLE, TENN.

Armani Moore scored 22 points, Detrick Mostella added 17 and 12th-seeded Tennessee shot a season-best 59 percent from the field to pummel No. 13 seed Auburn (11-20). After failing to break 40 percent shooting while splitting two previous meetings this season against the Tigers, the Volunteers (14-18) seemingly couldn’t miss this time around, hitting 12 of their first 16 in the second half.
