Board to meet March 24 to address problems at East High School
YOUNGSTOWN
School board members will meet later this month regarding the problems at East High School.
Jackie Adair. board member, said this morning that a meeting is set for March 24 at the school. A time is to be determined.
The meeting follows fights Tuesday morning at the school which led to several police officers responding. Those officers used chemical spray to quell the brawls.
Parents, staff, teachers, administrators, students and board members are expected to attend.
“The board can’t fix this,” Adair said. “Teachers can’t fix this. This is going to take the parents of the students, perhaps working in conjunction with people at the school.”
Stephen Stohla, interim superintendent, said East seniors will return to school Thursday, allowing them to prepare for the state test which is upcoming. he said they will be instructed on what is acceptable behavior in school. "They're the oldest. Hopefully they will set the example," he said.
Juniors will return Friday, joining the seniors. The remainder of the student body will return Monday. "We're going to phase them in," Stohla said.
