2 arraigned on meth charges

Tod Caldwell, 41, of Boardman appeared for arraignment Tuesday in Mahoning County Area Court on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, endangering children, illegal assembly and possession of chemicals to manufacture drugs and possession of methamphetamine.

Township police and U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency agents took Caldwell into custody at his Southern Boulevard apartment at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

They found his 2-year-old son in the apartment as well as materials authorities said are used to make methamphetamine.

The child was placed in his mother’s custody.

Caldwell is out on bond awaiting a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. April 19 before Judge Joseph Houser of Mahoning County Area Court.

Adam Hayes, 25, of Robertsville, Caldwell’s friend, also was arrested. He was arraigned on charges of possession of methamphetamine and illegal assembly and possession of chemicals to manufacture drugs.

Hayes is in the Mahoning County jail on a $15,000 bond awaiting a preliminary hearing also scheduled for 9 a.m. April 19.
