Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course saw a 20.8 percent year-over-year increase in gaming revenue from slot machines in February.

The Ohio Lottery Commission reported February video lottery terminal (VLT) figures Monday. This February’s figures reflected one more day over last year.

The new figures show the Austintown racino with $8.2 million in net win, or gaming revenue, compared with the $6.8 million reported in February 2015.

“The revenue numbers for Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course, and for all four of our Ohio facilities, are reflective of our continued focus on delivering best-in-class customer service and entertainment value,” said Eric Schippers, senior vice president of Penn National Gaming Inc., which runs the racino.

The OLC report also shows $81.4 million in credits played at Hollywood Gaming. Gamers won $72.4 million in credits – an 89.83 percent payout – which equated to a win per day per VLT of $304.

Hollywood Gaming had an average of 940 slot machines, compared with 866 in February 2015.

Promotional play credits at the racino increased from $430,761 to $740,773.

The seven racinos in the state reported February revenue of $72.2 million, compared with February 2015 revenue of $62.8 million.

The state’s four casinos reported revenue of $72.1 million in February, compared with $67.5 million reported in February 2015, according to the Ohio Casino Control Commission.

Combined racino and casino revenue was $144.3 million, a 10.7 percent increase over the combined racino and casino February 2015 revenue of $130.3 million.

“Statewide, it was a very positive month over last year,” said Alan Silver, a former executive in the gaming industry and an assistant professor at Ohio University. “I am seeing a strong market in Ohio currently.”
