Flight delayed

VIENNA

Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport passengers taking a flight to Florida on Sunday morning were delayed about two hours and evacuated from the building after security saw a suspicious item inside a passenger’s luggage.

The airport’s aviation director, Dan Dickten, said security was unable to identify an item in a passenger’s luggage that was going through the Transportation Security Association check area.

Security saw a package wrapped in wires and believed that the item could be a bomb. However, it turned out to be packaged deer meat and not a threat, reported 21 WFMJ-TV news, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner. The passenger was cleared.

Dickten said the airport was following protocol to have the building evacuated and call out the Youngstown Bomb Squad.
