More than 100 pack meeting on MetroParks

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Community Health Center tonight is packed with more than 100 people who are opposed to recent staff cuts at Mill Creek MetroParks.

The group gathered tonight to strategize and debrief prior to next Monday's park board meeting, the first since park officials summarily dismissed 13 employees as part of an "internal reorganization" plan that is slated to save the park $13 million over the next 15 years.

A common goal expressed by many is the removal of park director Aaron Young.

The group represents a broad swath of the community, with representation from wildlife advocacy groups, a group from Geauga County and former park director Dennis Miller in attendance.
