Candidates for Trumbull County sheriff


Two candidates are running for sheriff in the Democratic primary. An * denotes the incumbent. No candidate filed in the GOP primary.

TOM ALTIERE*

Age: 66.

Address: 9590 Cain Drive, Howland.

Employment: Trumbull County sheriff for 22 years, former Howland police chief.

Education: Graduate of Brookfield High School; bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Youngstown State University.

Family: Wife, Darlene; four children.

Priority: Body cameras for our deputies, public access to our records, jail command system, more education and treatment for those addicted to drugs.

PAUL MONROE

Age: 52.

Address: 8817 Howland Springs Road SE, Howland.

Employment: Howland police chief for 13 years, 30 years with the department.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from Kent State University.

Family: Wife, Christine; two children.

Priority: I will restore the drug task force and make the Trumbull Ashtabula Group Law Enforcement Task force multi-jurisdictional. Currently the only agencies participating are from the Trumbull sheriff’s office and one deputy from Ashtabula County.
