Seminar on tax issues for artists

The Legal Creative will present “Tax Issues for Artists,” the first in a series of seminars for the artist entrepreneur, from noon to 1 p.m. March 23 at Soap Gallery, 117 S. Champion St., downtown.

Dean Coutris, CPA, will navigate tax issues for the self-employed artist. He will discuss allowable business expenses and what you need to do to properly claim deductions.

A Mahoning Valley native, Coutris has worked in both public and private accounting for the past 10 years, with heavy focuses on nonprofit organizations and small-business tax and accounting services. He is an adjunct faculty member at Cleveland State University in the accounting department. He is also an actor.

Registration is not required. Attendees are asked to pay what they can (suggested donation is $15).

Participants may bring a bagged lunch. Coffee, tea and water will be provided.
