Pirates 9, Braves 6

KISSIMMEE, Fla.

Bud Norris pitched two perfect innings and Nick Markakis homered in the Braves’ spring loss to the Pirates. Markakis connected for a solo shot against left-hander Steven Brault in the fifth inning. He had no homers against lefties in 156 games last season in his first year with the Braves.

Giants (ss) 6, Indians 2

GOODYEAR, Ariz.

Cleveland ace Corey Kluber struck out three in two perfect innings in the Indians’ spring loss to the Giants. The 2014 AL Cy Young Award winner is lined up to start for the Indians on opening day. San Francisco shortstop Brandon Crawford went 0 for 3 while serving as the designated hitter for the split-squad. Crawford has yet to play in the field. Junior Arias had two hits and scored two runs for the Giants. Chris Stratton allowed four hits in two scoreless innings. Josh Tomlin, who is competing for the fifth spot in the Indians’ rotation, pitched two innings after Kluber departed. He was charged with two runs and four hits.

Nationals 8, Tigers 4

VIERA, Fla.

Jordan Zimmermann retired eight of his first nine batters in his Detroit debut against his former team, and the Tigers went on to an 8-4 loss to the Nationals. Zimmermann yielded a two-out hit to Pedro Severino in the third inning.

Yankees 6, Red Sox 4

TAMPA, Fla.

Jacoby Ellsbury tripled in his spring training debut, Alex Rodriguez had two hits and the Yankees beat the Red Sox. Ellsbury tripled to right-center on his final at-bat after being retired earlier on an infield liner and grounder.

Twins 13, Orioles (ss) 2

FORT MYERS, Fla.

Brian Dozier hit a leadoff drive in the first for his first spring homer, and the Twins collected 16 hits in a victory over a split-squad of Orioles.

Blue Jays 9, Phillies 6

DUNEDIN, Fla.

Michael Saunders homered twice and drove in five runs, leading the Toronto Blue Jays to a victory over the Phillies. Troy Tulowitzki led off the first inning with a drive to left against Aaron Nola.

Mets 3, Astros 1

KISSIMMEE, Florida

Ken Giles gave up two runs in one inning in his debut with the Astros, who lost to the Mets.

Cardinals 3, Marlins 2

JUPITER, Fla.

Wei-Yin Chen threw two shutout innings in his spring debut for the Marlins, who lost to the Cardinals on Saturday.

Reds 4, Cubs 2

MESA, Ariz.

Miguel Montero went 3 for 3 with a home run for the Cubs, who lost to the Reds. Montero also singled and doubled in front of a crowd of 15,443 at Sloan Park. The veteran catcher is 5 for 5 so far this spring.

Rockies 9, Padres 5

TEMPE, Ariz.

Tyson Ross pitched two scoreless innings for the Padres in a spring loss to the Rockies.

White Sox 7, Royals 6

SURPRISE, Ariz.

Ian Kennedy pitched two innings in his debut with the Royals, who have lost four in a row to begin spring training after falling to the White Sox.

Rangers 7, Giants (ss) 5

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.

Cole Hamels pitched 1 1-3 innings in his spring debut, and the Rangers beat a o Giants split-squad on. Hamels allowed one run on a homer by Mac Williamson.

Angels 9, Mariners 7

PEORIA, Ariz.

Robinson Cano hit a two-run homer and Franklin Gutierrez connected for a solo shot in the Mariners’ spring loss to the Angels.
