YOUNGSTOWN

These roads in Mill Creek Park will close to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians from about 6:30 a.m. to noon Sunday for the Youngstown Road Runners Club Distance Classic Half Marathon: New Cross, Bears Den, Cross, West, Memorial Hill, West Glacier, Robinson Hill, West Cohasset, High, Chestnut Hill, East Park, Valley and East Glacier drives.

Lane restrictions

AUSTINTOWN

Beginning Sunday, Interstate 80 westbound between state Routes 193 and 46 will have nightly lane restrictions between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. through Thursday for traffic pattern changes, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced.

The work is part of a $91.5 million ODOT project to widen I-80 between state Routes 11 and 193. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by late July 2018.

Bridge repairs

NORTH LIMA

The Ohio Department of Transportation announced that beginning Monday, Interstate 680 under state Route 164 in Beaver Township will have daily lane restrictions for bridge repairs through Friday.

Checking on seniors

HUBBARD

The City Transformation Team, a group of volunteer chaplains, and the Hubbard City Police Department are working to address the needs of seniors.

Through the Senior Citizen Check-Up Program, volunteers call seniors weekly to check on them. If unable to reach a senior, a relative or primary caregiver, the volunteer requests a police officer to go to the home to make a welfare check.

Seniors may sign up for the program by contacting the mayor’s office at 330-534-3090.

Bird-seed sale

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning Soil and Water Conservation District, 850 Industrial Road, will sell locally produced and bagged fresh wild-bird seed.

Bags of 25 pounds of mixed seed will be $10; 25 pounds of black oil sunflower seed, $16; and 10 pounds of thistle seed, $9.

Bags can be picked up daily. Call 330-740-7995 to place an order. MSWCD is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

History Fund grant

POLAND

The township historical society is one of 14 organizations to receive an Ohio History Fund grant, the Ohio History Connection announced.

The historical society received $6,327 to rehabilitate the windows in the society’s Little Red Schoolhouse on Center Road.

The project will retain the building’s historic appearance while making it energy efficient and less expensive to operate and maintain. The schoolhouse is the site of the society’s school and public programs.

Movie and lunch

YOUNGSTOWN

The Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, is hosting a movie and lunch event from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday.

There will be a showing of “The Goldbergs,” a domestic comedy-drama series about a struggling Jewish family in New York City, aired from 1949-1956. It’s a show about the importance of neighborhood and family.

Actress Gertrude Berg played Molly Goldberg, best-known for her signature line, “Yoo-Hoo, Mrs. Bloom.”
