Joseph Butler is focus of Tuesday program

Local historian Paul Rohrbaugh will present a program, “Uncle Joe: The Life and Times of Joseph G. Butler,” during the Tuesday meeting of the Salem Historical Society in the meeting room of the Dale Shaffer Library, 239 S. Lundy Ave.

The program will follow a society’s business meeting that will begin at 7 p.m.

Butler, a leader, philanthropist and personal friend of William McKinley, established the first museum in the United States dedicated to American Art, the Butler Art Institute in Youngstown.

Greeter will be Janice Lesher. Refreshments following the program will be provided by Bernice Clark.

The meeting is open to the public. Parking is available in the Timberlane’s parking lot.
