‘Divas’ concert to feature Maureen McGovern

CreativeBridge Coalition will present Valley of the Divas, featuring headliner Maureen McGovern, at Ford Family Recital Hall, 260 W. Federal St., downtown, on April 16 at 7:30 p.m.

The vocal music concert will include four other singers and will start at 7:30 p.m.

Valley of the Divas is a showcase for outstanding female vocalists associated with the Mahoning Valley.

In addition to Grammy award winner and Boardman native McGovern, there will be performances by Sugar Joans, a semifinalist during the 2014 season of “The Voice,” local theater professional Maureen Collins and Valley singers LeeAnn Binder, Janis Jones and Sarah Turner.

McGovern first rose to fame as an actor in the 1972 film “The Poseidon Adventure.” She sang the film’s theme song, “The Morning After.”

A catered meet-and-greet will follow the performance.

All proceeds from the event will go to CreativeBridge Coalition, a local charitable organization, and will be spent within the Mahoning Valley to support music-based educational programing for young children and those with special needs,.
