Awaiting test results

WARREN

The Trumbull County Coroner’s office will be awaiting toxicology results in about eight weeks to determine what killed Gregory Thomas, 53, of Idylwild Street Thursday.

He was taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial hospital after a two-vehicle crash at Kenmore Avenue and East Market Street and was pronounced dead there.

An autopsy showed that Thomas had heart disease but no injuries on his body, leading to the possibility that he crashed into oncoming traffic because of a heart attack or other disability.

Police said he was northbound on Kenmore and failed to stop at the stop sign at Market, causing a collision with a van. The 12:06 p.m. crash did not injure the passenger in his truck or the driver of the van, police said.

WRTA driver punched

YOUNGSTOWN

A man wanted for punching a bus driver in the face in December was arrested Thursday on a felonious-assault warrant.

Romero Davis, 19, was arrested by U.S. marshals about 9:20 a.m. at a home in the 2000 block of Pointview Avenue. Davis is in the Mahoning County jail after Magistrate Anthony Sertick set his bond at $15,000.

Davis is accused of punching a 63-year-old driver for Western Reserve Transit Authority about 7:15 p.m. Dec. 21 at Mount Vernon and Walton avenues. The driver told police Davis was a passenger and the driver stopped the bus and asked Davis to swipe his payment card again.

The driver told police Davis got upset and punched the driver, then ran. Assistant Prosecutor Jeffrey Moliterno said the victim had a fractured cheekbone.

Davis is also barred from having any contact with WRTA property.
