Youngstown police arrest man for purported assault on bus driver
YOUNGSTOWN — A man wanted for punching a bus driver in the face in December was arrested Thursday on a felonious-assault warrant.
Romero Davis, 19, was arrested by U.S. Marshals about 9:20 a.m. at a home in the 2000 block of Pointview Avenue on the South Side. Davis is in the Mahoning County jail pending his arraignment later today in municipal court.
Davis is accused of punching a 63-year-old driver for the Western Reserve Transit Authority in the face about 7:15 p.m. Dec. 21 at Mount Vernon and Walton avenues.
According to police reports, the driver told police Davis was a passenger on the bus and the driver stopped the bus and asked Davis to swipe his payment card again.
The driver told police Davis got upset and punched the driver, then ran off the bus. Reports said the driver had a swollen face and had difficulty speaking. He took himself to a hospital for treatment, reports said.
