‘American in Paris’ at Benedum Center

“An American in Paris,” winner of four Tony Awards, will play the Benedum Center for a two-week engagement May 30-June 11, 2017.
Inspired by the Academy-Award winning film, “An American in Paris” is the romantic story about an American soldier, a mysterious French girl and an indomitable European city, each yearning for a new beginning in the aftermath of war.

Concert band gets convention invite
YOUNGSTOWN
The Youngstown Area Community Concert Band has been invited to perform at the 38th annual National Convention of the Association of Concert Bands from March 30 through April 4 in Pittsburgh.
The YACCB will perform at 7 p.m. March 31 in Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall. The program will include “Men of Ohio,” A Tribute to Stephen Foster, the Polacca from Weber’s Second Clarinet Concerto, with Cindy Pickens as the soloist, Mancini Magic, Ticeli’s Shenandoah and Russian Christmas music by Alfred Reed. The concert is free and open to the public.
The YACCB was founded in 1983 and performs free summer concerts in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. A Christmas concert is performed each December with the Stambaugh Chorus to raise money for the Second Harvest Food Bank.
YACCB rehearsals are held each Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. in Bliss Hall on the campus of Youngstown State University. Go to yaccb.org for information.
