Slavic traditions to be highlighted

YOUNGSTOWN

Egg-Stravaganza, a Slavic Easter traditions workshop and celebration, will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Davis Center at Mill Creek Park.

The free family-friendly event will offer workshops and demonstrations along with traditional Easter foods and ethnic items available to buy.

Ukrainian artist Carol Novosel will conduct a set of small-group fine egg workshops.

Author Lawrence Kozlowski will lead a workshop on pisanki, wax-decorated eggs.

Bernadette Zubel will teach palmowa tkania,y weaved palms. Marcia Lewandowska will teach wycinanki eggs using decorative paper cutting.

Reservations for the classroom workshops are recommended. Session are planned at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 or 2:30; call 330-747-7107.

The Polish Peddler will have wooden eggs, decorating kits, blessing basket cloths, icons, woven palms, recipe books and, of course, decorated eggs and Easter basket covers.

Krakus Deli will provide traditional Polish Easter foods.
