Slavic Easter fun at event

Egg-Stravaganza, a Slavic Easter traditions workshop and celebration,will take place Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Davis Center at Fellows Riverside Gardens, off Mahoning Avenue.

The free, family-friendly event will offer workshops and demonstrations as well as traditional Easter foods and ethnic items for purchase.

Ukrainian artist Carol Novosel will conduct a set of small-group fine-egg workshops. Author Lawrence Kozlowski will lead the hands-on, family-friendly pisanki, wax-decorated eggs workshop. Bernadette Zubel will teach visitors how to make palmowa tkania, artfully weaved palms. Detroit’s Marcia Lewandowska will teach her fine-art level wycinanki eggs. This decorative paper cutting is traditionally used to decorate homes in the spring.

The Polish Peddler will sell wooden eggs, decorating kits, blessing basket cloths, woven palms and more.
