BOARDMAN
A Thursday morning fire at the Glenwood Manor Apartment building caused an estimated $75,000 loss and displaced 12 families.
Township firefighters responded about 7 a.m. to smoke coming from the ventilation system of the building, fire Chief Mark Pitzer said. The fire is believed to have started in a second-floor utility room and spread to the third floor.
All occupants were evacuated from the building with only one woman treated on the scene for smoke inhalation. Officials closed a portion of Glenwood Avenue between Overhill Road and West Midlothian Boulevard for a time.
The cause is under investigation.
