Six superintendents among those seeking West Branch Schools top spot

Twenty people including six superintendents have applied to become the next superintendent of West Branch schools.

The school board will schedule interviews and expects a new superintendent to begin Aug. 1.

Last August, Doug Phillips began as the West Branch superintendent, after longtime Superintendent Scott Weingart retired. Phillips resigned just four months later to take a job with the Iowa State University football program.

Weingart is filling in as interim superintendent.The applicants:

Stephen Alspaugh, principal at Bryan City Schools.

Brad Beun, director of student services, Springfield Local/Akron.

Lisa Brown, principal at East Knox Local School District.

David Cappuzzello, Girard superintendent.

• Patrick Colucci Sr., superintendent, Ashtabula Area City Schools.

Jack Cunningham, CEO at Chesterton Group, formerly East Liverpool principal.

Milton Folson, principal at Mount Healthy Schools, Cincinnati.

Andrew Kuthy, principal at Pymatuning Local Schools.

Patty Main, director of curriculum at Sandy Valley, Magnolia, Ohio.

• Joseph Maroni, principal at Canfield Local Schools.

Kent Morgan, assistant director, Brunswick Schools.

Tim Oberschlake, senior consultant, Navigator Management Partners.

Todd Osborn, superintendent, Liberty Union Schools, Baltimore, Ohio.

Kent Polen, former Beaver Local Schools superintendent, Lisbon.

Gregory Pollock, director of human resources at Lyndhurst City Schools.

Brian Ruckel, educational consultant and former superintendent at Blanchester Schools, Blanchester, Ohio.
