CANFIELD

A man pleaded not guilty on Tuesday in Mahoning County Area Court to four charges, accused of causing a lockdown at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 Palmyra Road.

According to the police report, David Pavelko, 18, of Cook Avenue in Boardman, threatened the victim over the phone Monday while she was in class at MCCTC.

MCCTC administrators placed the school on lockdown and contacted Canfield and Boardman police departments.

Pavelko is charged with inducing panic, domestic violence, aggravated menacing and telecommunications harassment.

Judge Scott D. Hunter set a $100,000 bond for Pavelko’s release, and if he is released from jail, he is to be on electronically monitored house arrest. MCCTC school officials also issued a criminal-trespass warning, banning Pavelko from the premises.

Pavlik hearing reset to March 15

CANFIELD

The case against former boxing champ Kelly Pavlik was reset Tuesday to March 15.

Pavlik, 33, of Sugarbush Drive, did not show up for the preliminary trial hearing Tuesday, but entered a written not-guilty plea through his lawyer in Mahoning County Area Court here on Jan. 29.

Authorities say Pavlik shot a man with a pellet gun at Pavlik’s home in Aug. 9.

The victim came forward to report the incident in mid-October. Canfield officers then charged Pavlik with felonious assault.

The former middleweight boxing champ retired in 2013.

Drug charges

HUBBARD

A traffic stop Monday led to charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia against a city man.

An officer stopped a car near Oak Knoll Drive for failure to stop at a stop sign and found a small amount of suspected marijuana and a pipe and grinder, according to a police report.

A passenger, Nicholas Battaglia, 18, of Hubbard said the items were his.

Battaglia was released and will be arraigned Tuesday on minor-misdemeanor charges.
