BOARDMAN

Police are looking for a man who tried to impersonate a township police officer Sunday evening.

Police were dispatched to the corner of Applewood Boulevard and Appleridge Drive where the suspect, in a green Jeep Liberty, purportedly ordered a couple to pick up a Steak n’ Shake cup they were photographing.

The witness stated he’d be done soon to which the suspect reportedly said, “I’m the Boardman police chief, pick up the cup now,” and activated a horn-style siren on the vehicle. The witness said he obtained a possible license-plate number.

Youngstown woman sentenced to jail

YOUNGSTOWN

A 20-year-old Nelson Avenue woman was sentenced Friday to six years in prison for a Feb. 1, 2014, robbery of a Dollar General store in Youngstown.

Tiffany Green drew the sentence from Judge Lou A. D’Apolito of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

She had pleaded guilty Sept. 14 to aggravated robbery with a firearm specification; and Jennifer Paris, an assistant county prosecutor, recommended a six-year prison term for her.

Paris said two people wearing bandannas used guns to take money from the cash register.

Police don’t know who robbed the store with Green, Paris said.

Green will be on post-release control for five years after prison.
