Girard police investigating report of man shooting himself in leg
GIRARD — Police are investigating an incident in which a man reportedly shot himself in the leg.
The 26-year-old man told police he accidentally shot his gun shortly after he and a friend pulled into the driveway of a Summit Avenue home. The bullet appeared to have entered the man's calf just below the knee, according to a police report.
The man, who was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, admitted to drinking alcohol earlier, police reported. Officers seized a pistol after the incident and found two beer cans and a small knife in the car. Possible charges are pending.
