WARREN
A 23-year-old city man suffered a serious gunshot wound to the leg when a house he was sleeping in on Deerfield Avenue Southwest was shot up at 3 a.m. Wednesday. Another man in the house, also of Warren, was cut by flying glass from the gunfire, he told police. Police recovered a shotgun near the house and found about 25 shell casings in the roadway from the front of the home to another nearby street. The men said they looked outside and saw a white car leaving the area. The shooting victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

I-80 truck crash
LIBERTY
The crash of a tractor-trailer tanker about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 near the state Route 711 ramp closed the right lane of the highway for about two hours but did not result in injuries. The Warren Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, which is investigating the Liberty Township crash, says a semi driven by Kenneth Miller, 51, of Ravenna, was westbound in the right lane behind a pickup truck. When the pick-up truck slowed suddenly, the semi, which was empty, swerved to the left to avoid contact, traveled off the left side of the highway and struck a guardrail. The front axle broke before it traveled back into the roadway and the truck came to rest in the right lane. The semi driver was not injured, but he was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance.

He and his wife, Roxanne, 56, were cutting down trees in a wooded area about 250 to 275 yards from their home when the tractor flipped while he was pulling a tree with the tractor, deputies with the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office said.
