Opening statements underway in 2013 stabbing death case

YOUNGSTOWN — Opening statements are underway in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court in the murder and felonious assault trial of Theodore Alexander, 59.

Alexander is accused in the September 2013 stabbing death of Ivan West, 28, of Liberty. West was found dead inside a Hilton Avenue home.

Judge John M. Durkin is hearing the case. A jury was seated Monday.
