Man faces gun, drug charges after vice squad arrest

YOUNGSTOWN — A man faces gun and drug charges after he was arrested by vice squad officers Tuesday during a traffic stop on the North Side.

Reports said officers Mike Quinn and Jimmy Hughes Jr. pulled over a car at about 4:25 p.m. at Fifth Avenue and Redondo Road for running a red light.

Reports said a passenger, Michael Moore, 27, of Tyrell Avenue, was leaning down in the front seat like he was trying to hide something.

The driver gave permission to search the car and police found a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun underneath the seat where he was sitting.

He also had a bag of crack cocaine in his pants, reports said.

Moore was booked into the Mahoning County jail on charges of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of crack cocaine.
