YWCA of Youngstown receives $50K grant from Youngstown Foundation

YOUNGSTOWN — YWCA of Youngstown received a grant for $50,000 from The Youngstown Foundation.

The grant will be used for building renovations at YWCA’s Kensington Avenue property on the North Side. The five-unit property will address the need for affordable housing for low- to moderate-income families and veteran families at risk of homelessness.

Additionally, the project will help to eradicate blight and increase safety for the citizens who live in the neighborhood. YWCA expects to begin leasing the units in the fall, according to a news release.

YWCA says it is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities.
